Magic Oven began in 2019 with a borrowed whisk and a stubborn refusal to make cakes that taste of food colouring. The oven we bake in is older than most of our customers — it runs hot in the back-left corner, so we rotate the tin at the seven-minute mark, and again at fourteen. Some things we will not do. The rest, we do slowly.
